Join churches worldwide responding to the worst hunger crisis of our time.

More people are facing famine today than any time in modern history. Across Somalia, South Sudan, Nigeria and Yemen, 20 million people are living on the brink of famine.

We have joined the World Council of Churches, All Africa Conference of Churches, World Evangelical Alliance and more than 120 ecumenical partners representing over 1 billion Christians responding to the largest hunger crisis of our time.

Join us for the Global Day of Prayer to End Famine on 10 June 2018.

More than 20 million face famine

  • In February 2017, famine was declared in parts of South Sudan. While there is no longer a declared famine and progress has been made in many areas, 20 million people across South Sudan, Somalia, Nigeria and Yemen are still living on the brink, at risk of entering famine.
  • Millions more in Uganda, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Bangladesh and Syria are suffering from high levels of food insecurity. The majority of those in need of food assistance are refugees or have been displaced due to conflict and violence.
  • Conflict is the key driver of hunger and food insecurity. Across 18 countries 74 million people struggle with high levels of food insecurity due to conflict and war.
  • The Church has a unique voice in making a difference during this unprecedented period of suffering.

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in…”

- Matthew 25:35 (NIV)
